HAVELOCK CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTS
School motto- “Every child belongs/Every child succeeds”
We at Havelock School stress the point that it takes hard work and consistency to gain people’s trust and respect. Cooperation, honesty/integrity, being polite, doing good deeds without being asked, etc… are all ways to earn respect. There is also the aspect of self-respect, which we can maintain by avoiding behaviors such as gossiping and bullying.
When students are spotted doing a good deed without seeking an instant reward, they may receive a “2 G’s” ticket toward the possibility of winning a reward at periodic draws throughout the year. (Give & Get Program)
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

1. Maintain the highest level of politeness and respect all staff and students.

School-wide emphasis on the 8 Keys of Success
(Based on the teachings of Learning Forum Inc)
1. This is it – “go for it attitude” We must be willing to except challenges with the expectation that we will do our very best, no matter what the circumstances.
2. Integrity – “living above the line” We emphasis that honesty is the best way to solve problems, and earns the respect of our fellow students and peers.
3. Ownership – “own your work/own your behavior” This key relates to our emphasis on developing values that will make for responsible citizens, and future community leaders.
4. Commitment – “be dedicated” Once we make a commitment to tackle a task/job, we must do our very best to see it through.
5. Speak with Good Purpose – “positive talk/no gossiping”
6. Failure leads to success – “learn from our mistakes” One of the main teaching strategies we emphasis is that mistakes are the path to success.
7. Flexibility – “be open to change/respect other individuals for who they are”
8. Balance – “mind, body and spirit”
Of course, we are flexible with the vocabulary, and examples pertaining to the Keys of Excellence based on the grade level. For example, referring to integrity as honesty.
